1. Team Sports


Team sports could be anything from soccer to baseball, or football to tennis.

These types of team sports are great for weight loss because they encourage and require kids to run and get their heart pumping.


Not only are the kids going to be running and jumping and chasing balls, but they are going to have the chance to learn about what commitment means. As a team member, your child will have to commit to lots of practice days after school, on weekends, and be prepared to show up for tournaments.


Another thing that we love about team sports is the opportunity it gives parents to get involved. You don’t have to be the coach to be involved in a soccer game. All you need to do is show up for practice, bring some water and snacks, and cheer them on. Then, when it’s time for the big game, you’ll be the biggest fan in the crowd.


2. Swimming


Swimming is another great way to help kids lose weight.

Swimming build strength in the arms and legs, while getting the heart pumping for fast weight loss.


Not only is swimming a crucial skill for anyone to have, big or small, but it's also especially helpful for children who have disabilities or joint problems. Swimming is considered a low intensity workout, meaning it doesn’t put much strain on the joints.

Consider Their Sleep Schedule

You might not think that sleep has much to do with weight loss, but the body isn’t built to run constantly. It needs time to rest and recharge.


Kids work their brains all day during school, and will likely come home tired. Make sure they are getting a full night's sleep. This doesn’t always mean going to bed on time, it also means making sure they are getting restful sleep during the night.
